چکیده

Abstract There are few data describing the effects of different oils on fatty acid (FA) metabolism in dogs. Our objectives were to assess camelina (CAM), flaxseed (FLAX), and canola oil (OLA) serum total lipid FA profiles over a 16-week feeding study. Thirty healthy, adult dogs various breeds [17 females, 13 males; 7.2±3.1 years 27.4±14.0 kg (mean±SD)] underwent 4-week dietary wash-in period commercial, low-fat kibble top dressed with 8.2g sunflower oil/100g food intake. Dogs blocked by breed, age, size, assigned receive CAM, FLAX, or OLA for 16-weeks at same dose as wash-in. Serum measured using gas chromatography from baseline week 16. Data analyzed ANOVA PROC GLIMMIX SAS. In all treatments, final percent area pooled individual omega-3 (n-3) omega-6 (n-6) FAs inversely related, n-3 being greater 16 n-6 less compared (p< 0.05). Conversely, dihomo-γ-linolenic showed accumulation docosahexaenoic was than treatments Stearidonic FLAX but both similar α-linolenic differed among (FLAX >CAM >OLA) Eicosadienoic CAM Omega-9 Eicosaenoic mead OLA, oleic Differences fed camelina, flax, due inherent concentrations suggest suitable increasing concentrations.

The effect of consuming oxidized oil supplemented with fiber on lipid profiles in rat model*

BACKGROUND This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of consuming thermally oxidized oil supplemented with pectin on liver glutathione peroxidase activity, serum malondialdehyde and lipid profiles in male Sprague-Dawley rats. METHODS Fifty growing male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into different groups. The diets differed only in their fat and pectin content. The diets had...

Lipid profiles of Helicobacter pylori and Helicobacter mustelae grown in serum-supplemented and serum-free media.

Many of Helicobacter species have been found to have novel cholesteryl glucosides (CGs). To study the biosynthetic mechanism of CGs, the lipid profiles of H. pylori and H. mustelae grown in serum-supplemented and cholesterol-restricted serum-free media were investigated. In contrast to the serum-supplemented state, helicobacters had less CGs in the serum-free state; a trace amount of CGs and no...

Serum lipid profiles, total tract nutrient digestibility, and gastrointestinal tolerance by dogs of α-cyclodextrin.

The objectives were to quantify gastrointestinal tolerance, total tract nutrient digestibility, and serum lipid profiles of dogs as affected by α-cyclodextrin (ACD) supplementation and to validate the accuracy of fat analyses techniques using novel ACD-fat complexes. The ACD was hydrolyzed and free sugars and hydrolyzed monosaccharides were quantified using high performance liquid chromatograph...

Reference Values for Serum Lipid Profiles in Iranian Adults: A Spline-Based Quantile Regression Method

Background: Reference measurements are used to screen for abnormal blood lipids. The problem is that these reference values obtained in one population cannot be effective for another population. This study aimed to determine the reference values for blood lipids profiles in the population aged 25-64 years in Yazd. Methods: This descriptive study was based on the data of  Yazd Health Study (YaHS...

Estimation of Coagulation Parameters in Albino Rats Fed on Canola Oil Supplemented with Atherogenic Diet

Present study was designed to estimate the coagulation parameters like prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT). In this study, coagulation parameters were compared in animals fed on low and high conc. of canola oil with that of canola supplemented with atherogenic element. For this purpose, sixty albino rats were selected and divided into five different groups wit...
